A 27-year-old man from Pennfield, N.B., died following a single-vehicle crash in St. George, N.B., early Saturday morning.
RCMP said members of the St. Geoge detachment responded to a report that a vehicle crashed on Highway 1 at approximately 3:12 a.m. The driver and sole occupant died from his injuries at the scene.
The driver was believed to be travelling in the wrong direction when he hit the guard rail, rolled across the highway and landed in the ditch, said an RCMP news release.
Members of the St. George and Pennfield fire departments assisted at the scene.
A member of the New Brunswick coroner’s office is assisting police with the ongoing investigation.
An autopsy is scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.
