Saint John, N.B., re-routes two Rockwood Park trails out of private property

Published:

Two Rockwood Park trails in Saint John will be rerouted out of private property.

A pair of trails in Saint John’s Rockwood Park are being re-routed out of private property.

The city says a portion of Carnage and Deer Trax along the park’s northern edge will be redirected to stay within the boundaries of Rockwood.

Carnage is listed as a 2.4 km black diamond trail, and Deer Trax is a 0.5 km connector path. Details about the trail’s new distances weren’t immediately available.

In a statement, the city says it had a conversation with the property owner where it was mutually agreed upon to keep the trails within the municipally-owned park. The city’s statement says the realignment will allow it to better manage both trails.

Work to re-route Carnage and Deer Trax is expected to finish this summer. Trail users are being asked to follow the new path.

At 890 hectares, Rockwood Park has a total of 55 trails and footpaths.
