Tentative agreement reached between N.B. government, unionized workers

The province of New Brunswick says it has reached a tentative collective agreement with CUPE 1190.

The union represents more than 2,100 members such as labourers, park employees, mechanics, equipment operators, maintenance repair workers, maintenance, and tradespeople.

A previous collective agreement expired in December 2022.

CUPE 1190 said a median wage for a member was $25.44 an hour.

The union filed for a deadlock last summer after talks with the government reached an impasse.

The province said in a Tuesday evening news release both parties came to an agreement after returning to the bargaining table.

They have agreed to withhold details of the agreement until it is ratified.
