Police in Cape Breton are warning residents about a heat pump sales scam.
The Cape Breton Regional Police says it has received reports from three residents who say they were visited by a group claiming to represent a heat pump company.
The alleged representatives have also made arrangements to conduct property assessments for installation locations, according to police.
Cape Breton Regional Police warns residents not to provide money, or personal or financial information.
“The alleged representatives have been described as three men wearing casual clothing and one resident also reported seeing them drive a white Toyota car,” reads the release.
If you are visited by a sales person, police suggest you:
- ensure they are legitimate before proceeding
- request professional ID
- check their credentials
- call the organization they claim to be representing and verify the person’s identity and purpose for being there
