Drugs, cash seized during traffic stop with stolen vehicle: Halifax police

A man and woman are facing charges after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle in Dartmouth, N.S.

Halifax Regional Police said officers noticed someone driving a stolen vehicle away from a closed business in the 400 block of Windmill Road around 12:50 a.m. Wednesday. Police were able to stop the vehicle shortly after and arrested the driver and passenger.

Police said at the time of the arrest, the passenger had an undisclosed amount of cash and drugs, which officers then seized.

The passenger, 37-year-old Antonio Eben Carvery, has been charged with:

  • possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • two counts of possession of a scheduled 1 substance
  • obstruct public-peace officer
  • four counts of failure to comply with conditions of release order
  • failure to attend court

The driver, 34-year-old Zatora Sofia Hines, was arrested for possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Police said she was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
