Employee injured after ‘unfortunate incident’ at Halifax container terminal

An employee was injured in the south end Halifax port terminal Tuesday morning.

A male employee was injured in a workplace incident at a container terminal in Halifax on Tuesday.

“An unfortunate incident occurred at the PSA Atlantic Hub Terminal this morning resulting in injuries to one of our employees,” confirmed Jonathan Chia, deputy chief executive officer for Global PSA Halifax, in a statement to CTV News.

“Our heartfelt thoughts go out to the injured as well as his family.”

The company did not say whether the man’s injuries are life-threatening and did not release any information about the employee.

It also didn’t release any information about the incident, which is under investigation.

“At this moment, we are unable to provide further details about the incident as investigations are still ongoing,” said Chia. “We are working closely with the relevant authorities and emergency services to support our employee and his family and to understand the circumstances leading to this unfortunate safety incident.”

CTV News has learned the incident happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the container terminal in the city’s south end.

No other information is available at this time.
