Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a byelection will be held next month for the Halifax riding.
The seat was left vacant last September by then-Liberal MP Andy Fillmore when he became an official mayoral candidate for Halifax Regional Municipality. Fillmore won the municipal election in October.
The Liberal Party of Canada announced Shannon Miedema will be its candidate in the upcoming race.
Canada’s NDP has announced Lisa Roberts as its candidate. Leader Jagmeet Singh is in Halifax to kick off her campaign Sunday.
Mark Boudreau has been nominated as the Conservative Party of Canada candidate.
March 2 was the last day the byelection could be called, according to Elections Canada.

The byelection will be held on Monday, April 14.
