Halifax Kids’ Guide shares list of family-friendly activities

A brand new Halifax guide book for kids is out, packed with fun activities and hidden gems.

Discover Halifax has released its annual Halifax Kids’ Guide – sharing family-friendly activities to do in Halifax and surrounding areas.

This marks the fourth year for the guide – which tends to be released in February to help families plan for March Break and summer trips.

“The guide’s purpose is really two-fold. It’s really intended to support parents or grownups as they plan their visits with their children here in Halifax,” says Clare Tidby, vice president of marketing and visitor experience with Discover Halifax.

“It’s intended to give them things that are useful like family-focused attractions, hotels, restaurants, activities or events that their kids might be catered by.”

Tidby says the guide not only shares ideas for activities, but interesting facts about the region as well.

“So, in the guide you’ll find there’s lots of information about fun facts and jokes that are related to Halifax to make sure the kids are entertained by the guide as well,” she said.

First launched in 2021, the guide was originally created after research done at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic revealed many families were unaware of what the city had to offer.

“So, in came the guide providing them with short term, as well as long term, potential things that they can do while they’re here,” Tidby said.

“We tried to have a balance between things that are free, things that are paid, as well as indoor, outdoor, all seasons long, as well as things to represent the entirety of the region.”

The guide can be digitally downloaded or ordered on Discover Halifax’s website.
