Halifax police seek vehicle allegedly driven by suspect in fatal shooting

Police are trying to identify a vehicle they say was driven by the suspect in a fatal shooting in the Halifax area last week.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of an injured man on McFatridge Road in Fairview around 6:20 a.m. on Feb. 20.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot and was lying unconscious on the sidewalk.

The man was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Uriah Black and his death has been ruled a homicide.

Police have now released a photo of a blue Honda CRV they believe the suspect was driving at the time of the shooting.

Investigators are asking anyone with information that could identify the vehicle, its owner, or its current location to contact Halifax Regional Police at 902-490-5020.

They are also asking anyone who has video from McFatridge Road and surrounding streets between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. last Thursday to contact police at 902-490-5020 if they haven’t already.

Police have said they don’t believe the shooting was a random act.
