Halifax RCMP is investigating an attempted robbery in Cole Harbour, N.S.

The Halifax Regional Detachment of the RCMP and EHS responded to reports of an altercation between two men in a grocery store parking lot on Forest Hill Parkway on Saturday at approximately 6:05 p.m.

Police observed two men fighting inside a car upon arrival, said a Sunday news release. One man complied with police orders but the other tried to drive away during the arrest, said the release.

One of the responding officers used a taser on the fleeing man. The 31-year-old Cole Harbour man was then safely arrested for attempted robbery, said police.

The investigation indicates the 31-year-old man tried to steal the other man’s car, said police. Both men, who were known to each other, suffered minor injuries, but no one else was hurt.

EHS transported the 31-year-old man to hospital. He remains in police custody.

The vehicle owner was treated at the scene and released pending further investigation.

Police said the investigation is in the early stages and ongoing.
