Halifax Wanderers offering tickets for blood donations

Published:

Halifax Wanderers fans have some added incentive to roll up their sleeves and donate blood.

Halifax soccer fans have the chance to help out their community and get free tickets to a season opener game this weekend.

The Halifax Wanderers FC is offering ticket vouchers for their game against the Pacific FC on Saturday for people who donate blood.

“As the build up to our first game, we wanted to do something great in the community so we partnered with Canadian Blood Services to do a donation drive where anyone who comes in to donate blood gets a ticket voucher,” said Derek Martin, president of the Halifax Wanderers. “Making the community stronger through sport is our motto and I think anytime you can help out your fellow citizens by donating blood to give them a chance… is one of the best things we can do as a community member.”

Krysta Hanakowski, community development manager for Canadian Blood Services, said there are still available appointments ahead of the Saturday game.

“It reminds people who haven’t been in for a while to come in,” she said.

The season opener will start at 4:30 p.m. at the Wanderers Grounds.
