Local artists open doors for Peggy’s Cove area studio tours this weekend

The folks from the Peggy's Cove Area Festival of the Arts share details on this year's event.

More than 70 local artists will be showcasing their talent and works this weekend for visitors to see, learn from and buy.

Friday marked the beginning of the studio tour portion of the Peggy’s Cove Area Festival of the Arts.

The artists are spread across more than 45 different locations and will have their work on display from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Friday to Sunday.

“We will be showing our art in studios, galleries, and some artists homes,” says Annette Lowe, painter and volunteer for the Peggy’s Cove Art Society.

“Some artists will be actually hands-on creating art so that people can see the process, they can have conversations with local artists about their process,” she says.

No tickets are required to visit the artists. Lowe encourages those interested to view the festival’s online map to plan a visit.

“It’s not just a show and sale, it’s actually getting behind the scenes and seeing what artists are creating,” she explains. “We have so much talent here in Nova Scotia, a lot of artists. So, to be able to showcase our art and have people come and see it, it’s such a wonderful opportunity that otherwise wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for an event like this.”
