Nova Scotia RCMP says a man has been arrested for obstructing and assaulting a fishery officer during an inspection.
Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) was conducting an inspection on the Tangier River in Tangier, N.S., when police say a man tried to take elver fishing nets from one of the fishery officers, leading to a struggle.
The man resisted arrest and suffered minor injuries, according to a Monday news release from the RCMP.
The 46-year-old man from Millbrook was transferred into the custody of the Musquodoboit Harbour RCMP and assessed by EHS.
The man was later released and is set to appear in provincial court in Dartmouth on May 21 to face charges including:
- assaulting a peace officer
- obstructing a peace officer
