More affordable housing coming to Digby County

Nova Scotia is building more affordable housing in Digby.

The Mount Street housing development will feature 21 new homes, including 12 affordable units.

Manzer Construction has completed construction on one building which is already fully occupied. A second building will be finished in a month and a third will begin construction late in the summer, said a news release. Each building will have seven units.

Through our five-year housing plan, our government is helping more people than ever before find affordable housing,” said Colton LeBlanc, minister of Growth and Development. “Investments like the ones we have made in Digby improve housing access and affordability for people in the area and help the local economy grow and community thrive.”

The total cost of the development is $2.8 million. The province is providing $1.14 million in forgivable loans through the Affordable Housing Development Program.

Nova Scotia made its largest investment in public housing in three decades under the Affordable Housing Development Program in 2023, “to create 51,352 new housing units under the Action for Housing plan,” said the release.
