Man, 38, charged after armed robbery at Lower Sackville, N.S., gas station: RCMP

A 38-year-old man has been charged in connection with a gas station robbery in Lower Sackville, N.S.

RCMP responded to the robbery at a gas station on Cobequid Road around 5:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say a man entered the store, brandished a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot.

There were no injuries reported, according to an RCMP news release.

Police and a K9 unit searched the area which led them to a home on Dickey Drive where two men were arrested.

Police searched the home later that morning and seized:

- cash

- cigarettes

- a knife

Matthew Christopher Specht from Middle Sackville, N.S., has been charged with:

- robbery

- mischief

- uttering threats

- possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

- carrying a concealed weapon

Specht appeared in Dartmouth provincial court and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 10 at 9:30 a.m.

Police say the second man was released without charges.
