N.S. RCMP investigates fatal crash near Pictou

Pictou County RCMP is investigating a fatal collision in Salt Springs, N.S., said a Saturday news release.

RCMP officers, fire services, and EHS responded to a report that a vehicle was overturned in the river under Highway 104 near West River East Side Road on Friday afternoon.

Responders found two injured people inside a Dodge Caravan on its roof. Fire services recovered the driver, a 75-year-old man and his passenger, a 73-year-old woman, both from Cheticamp, N.S.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to hospital via EHS LifeFlight.

The RCMP’s collision and reconstruction services team are assisting in the ongoing investigation.
