Man, 58, dies after vehicle-pedestrian collision in Middle Sackville

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Middle Sackville, N.S., Thursday night.

A man has died following a vehicle-pedestrian collision in Middle Sackville, N.S., Thursday night.

Police, fire and ambulance crews responded to a report of a collision near the 1600 block of Sackville Drive around 7:15 p.m.

Police say a Honda Civic was travelling west on the road when it hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road.

The pedestrian, a 58-year-old man from Middle Sackville, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Civic, a 25-year-old man also from Middle Sackville, was not injured.

Police say there was heavy rain and wind in the area at the time of the collision.

They do no believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist also attended the scene.

A section of Sackville Drive was closed for several hours. It has since reopened.

Police say their investigation is ongoing.

They are asking anyone with dashcam footage of Sackville Drive near Lively Road and Wilson Lake Drive between 7 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Thursday to come forward.
