Police in Cape Breton are investigating after shots were fired in Sydney Mines on Monday morning.

Police in Cape Breton are investigating after shots were fired in Sydney Mines on Monday morning.

According to a news release, police responded to a call from a resident on Cottage Street stating they discovered damage to their home resembling bullet holes.

After some investigation, police were able to determine shots had been fired from a vehicle between the hours of 4:30 and 5 a.m. Police describe the vehicle as a dark-coloured hatchback with a loud muffler. It was seen traveling on Pitt Street towards Legatto Street.

Anyone with information or video footage around Cottage Street between the hours of 3:30 and 6 a.m. is asked by police to contact then at 902-563-5151, or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
