RCMP in Pictou, N.S., charge two people with weapons offences, drug trafficking

Police charged two people with weapons offences and drug trafficking after executing a search warrant in Pictou, N.S., last week.

Jennifer Anne Stevenson, 40, and Chad Andrew Thomson, 34, both of Pictou, are charged with:

  • possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine)
  • careless use of firearm
  • unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  • possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (two counts)
  • possession of property obtained by crime (two counts)

The Pictou County Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit (PCISCEU) arrested Stevenson and Thomson while executing a search warrant at a residence on Welsford Street as part of an ongoing drug investigation on April 3.

During the search, officers seized cocaine, methamphetamine, cash, a firearm, a machete and mobile devices and tools that are believed to be stolen, said a Friday news release.

The suspects were released with conditions. They are scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on July 7.

The ongoing investigation is led by PCISCEU with assistance from Pictou Country District RCMP, Antigonish/Guysborough Street Crime Enforcement Unit and RCMP Police Dog Services.

The PCISCEU is made up of police officers from Pictou County District RCMP, Westville Police Service and Stellarton Police Service.
