Second annual Cops + Kids event held at Mic Mac Mall

The second annual Shop With A Cop event took place at Mic Mac Mall.

The second annual Cops + Kids event was held Wednesday at Mic Mac Mall in Dartmouth, N.S.

The event let kids do some Christmas shopping while officers had the chance to build relationships in the community.

Around 25 youths and 25 officers and public servants took part in the event.

Officers and youths got to “wake up Woody,” the talking Christmas tree located at the mall.

“They’re really excited and I think it will be a really fun day,” said Michael Elms, Preston RCMP officer.

The youths were given a $200 gift card donated by the mall to shop for themselves or their loved ones.

“It’s great to have the holiday cheer and for youth to see officers in a different light,” Elms said. “To see us just as regular individuals that are out there in the community.”
