Halifax police identify victim of fatal shooting in Fairview area

Uriah Lemar Black was pronounced dead after a shooting in Halifax on Thursday.

Halifax Regional Police has identified the victim of a fatal shooting in Halifax on Thursday as 38-year-old Uriah Lemar Black.

Police responded to a report of an injured man on McFatridge Road in the community of Fairview around 6:20 a.m.

When police arrived, officers found Black on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

An autopsy conducted by the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service confirmed the manner of death was homicide.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing, but they do not believe this was a random act.

Police are asking anyone with information or video from the area throughout the night to contact them at 902-490-5020.
