A 32-year-old man is facing charges in relation to an armed robbery in Charlottetown Tuesday.
Police said Brandon Coady was charged with armed robbery and wearing a mask while committing an indictable offence, said a Thursday news release.
Coady remains in custody. He will appear in provincial court at a later date.
Charlottetown police said multiple units responded to an armed robbery at the Irving Parkdale Mainway on St Peters Road at approximately 6:15 p.m. They learned a masked man threatened an employee at the gas station with a needle and took an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect fled the scene in a black Honda Civic without licence plates, said the release.
Officers located the car Wednesday morning and arrested the suspect without incident in the afternoon. They said video surveillance and intuitive police work were instrumental in solving the case within 24 hours.
Police searched the suspect’s residence after Charlottetown Police Services Major Crime Unit helped obtain a warrant.
The street crime unit assisted with the investigation.
