Heading to the Cavendish Beach Music Festival? Here’s what you need to know

The Cavendish Beach Music Festival (CBMF) is set to run from Thursday to Saturday, and fans are preparing to head out to Atlantic Canada’s largest outdoor concert event.

The festival site is located at 8779 Route 6, Cavendish, P.E.I., home to a tradition for more than 60,000 country music lovers, according to the CBMF.

Schedule

On Thursday HARDY is set to headline along with Dylan Gossett, Avery Anna, Chase McDaniel and more. General admission tickets are available online for $209.

Friday will see performances from Tucker Wetmore, Muscadine Bloodline, Margo Price and Matt Lang. Tickets for general admission can be purchased online for $169.

On Sunday, Cody Johnson, Ashley McBryde and Jade Eagleson are scheduled to perform, among others. General admission tickets for Sunday are going for $209 online.

A general admission weekend pass can be bought online for $339, with more upgrades available.

What to bring

Organizers for the award-winning country music festival remind concertgoers of what to bring and what to leave at home.

They encourage bringing the following, if necessary:

• non-professional cameras, phones
• empty water bottles
• camping chairs
• beach towels and blankets
• non-aerosol sunscreen and bug repellent
• a small bag or belt bag
• a rain poncho
• a stroller
• service animals
• prescription medicine in its original packaging
• sunglasses, a cowboy hat and boots

The festival prohibits the following:

• knives, weapons and squirt guns
• illegal substances or drug paraphernalia
• professional cameras, selfie sticks, tripods
• recording equipment
• drones
• glow sticks and laser pointers
• fireworks, flammables and aerosol cans
• food or drinks
• coolers, large bags or picnic baskets
• pets
• umbrellas and flags
• balls, balloons, inflatables, kites and frisbees

The festival organizers say all bags will be searched upon entry.

The CBMF is accredited as “fully accessible,” from the parking lot to pathways to washrooms.

Shuttles and driving

Shuttle bus passes are available for pickup at locations like the Charlottetown Cineplex, UPEI, Founders Hall and Route 6 Ranch with different dates and times available online.

For drivers, parking is first come, first served.

Onsite parking behind the main stage is available at $25 per day.

Offsite parking is available at Tourist Mart for $20 per day. All traffic must leave the parking sites after 10 p.m.

Summerside Police Services warns against impaired driving with a safety reminder online.

“Celebrate responsibly and plan ahead,” the police write, adding to never drive impaired, look out for one another, lock vehicles and keep valuables out of sight.

P.E.I. RCMP echoes the concern, saying officers will be patrolling the roads across the Island, including routes to and from the festival site.

“Our priority is keeping traffic moving safely and preventing impaired driving,” they write in a social media post on Wednesday.

If festival attendees are drinking or using cannabis, RCMP urge them to plan a safe ride home.

“Choose a designated driver, use a taxi or a rideshare, or stay where you are until you’re sober,” they write. “The best festival memories don’t include a trip to the hospital—or a trip to court.”
