RSV outbreak declared at P.E.I. long-term care home

An RSV outbreak has been declared at a long-term care home on Prince Edward Island.

Health PEI said the outbreak is at Colville Manor in Souris in the Cranberry Lane household. It said residents of this unit will be limited to one visitor at a time.

“All visitors will be asked to follow the current infection control measures including wearing a mask,” read a news release from Health PEI Sunday.

It is also asking people not to visit if they are feeling unwell.

RSV, which stands for respiratory syncytial virus, typically causes symptoms similar to that of the common cold, however seniors and immunocompromised people can experience more serious illness.
