Three people from P.E.I. charged with child pornography after nationwide investigation

Three people from P.E.I. are facing child pornography charges after a nationwide police investigation into online child sexual exploitation.

Sixty-three police forces across Canada conducted the operation, known as Project STEEL, between Feb. 17 and 28.

The PEI RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit conducted three investigations and executed search warrants as part of the operation.

The following three people were charged:

  • Terry Reeder, 60, has been charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and transmitting child pornography.
  • A youth has been charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography. Their identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
  • Ian Robertson Green, 24, has been charged with possession of child pornography and two counts of transmitting child pornography.

Reeder is due to appear in court in Summerside, P.E.I., on April 16.

The youth is due in Charlottetown court on April 23 while Green is set to appear in Charlottetown court on April 28.

The PEI RCMP says the investigation related to Project STEEL is ongoing.

According to a national RCMP news release on March 5, police seized 1,132 electronic devices, arrested 106 people, and safeguarded 37 children in connection with Project STEEL.

Four men from Nova Scotia and four men from New Brunswick were also arrested and are facing charges related to the investigation.
