A Sydney, N.S., singer-songwriter is celebrating a career milestone after one of the world’s most powerful voices put her spin on one of her songs.
Pop superstar Kelly Clarkson covered Goldie Boutilier’s “The Angel and The Saint” on her popular Kellyoke segment this week, performing it live on her daytime talk show.
In a heartfelt reaction video, Boutilier shared her shock and excitement.
“Kelly Clarkson sang my song ‘The Angel and The Saint,‘” she said.
“Kelly, if you’re watching this, I want you to know that I love you and that you are such a fierce, strong woman that I look up to. Your voice is impeccable. I am basking in this. I can’t wait for my parents to wake up - it’s really late on the East Coast and I can’t call them - but they are gonna freak out, and I’m freaking out. I’m so happy, guys. This is like a big deal. And for an independent artist like myself - thank you, Kelly.”
Boutilier just announced her 2025 Goldie Montana North American tour, with stops in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, and more.
She’ll also be performing at several major festivals, including Bonnaroo and Bottlerock.
East Coast fans can also catch her closer to home this summer – Boutilier is set to perform at the Halifax Jazz Festival and the 2025 East Coast Music Awards in St. John’s.
For an independent artist from Cape Breton, the Clarkson feature is something locals are proudly celebrating.
