Julianna Balsamo

Julianna Balsamo is a Canadian multi-media journalist with CTV News Barrie, delivering in-depth coverage of the stories shaping communities across Simcoe County and Central Ontario since 2024. Her passion for storytelling began at a young age, leading her to pursue a career in broadcasting. Julianna graduated with honours from Toronto Metropolitan University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Media Production through the Radio and Television Arts program. In her current role, Julianna writes and produces content for broadcast, digital and social media platforms. She contributes to breaking news coverage, daily editorial planning and digital content strategy, while also capturing interviews and visuals as a videographer. Throughout her time in Barrie, Julianna has covered several major stories, including the city’s state of emergency and homelessness crisis, the historic downtown Orillia fire and the 2025 ice storm. She also played a role in expanding CTV Barrie’s digital presence, helping support the launch and growth of the station’s TikTok platform and other social media initiatives. Julianna enjoys sharing both impactful news stories and feel-good community features that highlight the people and events shaping the region. She speaks English.
