Julianna Balsamo

Julianna Balsamo joined the CTV News Barrie team as a multi-media journalist in 2024. She discovered her passion for television at a young age, inspiring her to pursue a career in broadcasting. She graduated with honours from Toronto Metropolitan University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Media Production through the Radio and Television Arts program. In the newsroom, Julianna plays a dynamic role, contributing to assignment producing, breaking news coverage and leading the digital team through daily operations. She is involved in story planning, coordinating coverage of community events and managing CTV Barrie’s social media platforms. Known as the team’s YouTube champion, she has played a key role in helping enhance content strategy and driving digital engagement. She also works as a videographer, capturing interviews and visuals for the Barrie newscast. She has covered a wide range of major stories across the region, including Barrie’s state of emergency and homelessness crisis, the historic downtown Orillia fire and the aftermath of the 2025 ice storm. Julianna thrives in the fast pace of breaking news and enjoys sharing feel-good stories with her community. She speaks English.
