3 men and one minor arrested in alleged theft from Barrie mall, 2 suspects at large

Four suspects face charges and two remain at large after an alleged theft at a Barrie mall.

Three men and a youth were arrested after allegedly stealing clothing from a retail store in Barrie and trying to evade police. Two other suspects remain at large.

Barrie police say they received information that six suspects wearing face masks entered a store inside the Georgian Mall on Bayfield Street just before 9 p.m. Thursday and fled with a large quantity of clothing.

Police say officers located the suspect vehicle in a parking lot near the mall, but the occupants took off on foot. Two individuals were arrested in a nearby car dealership lot, and two others were captured following a search of Bayfield and Hanmer Streets.

The four arrested suspects, all from the Greater Toronto Area, face charges of theft under $5,000 and disguise with intent. Their identities were not disclosed.

Police say they continue to search for the two outstanding suspects. No descriptions were provided.

The police release about Thursday’s incident acknowledged the public’s assistance with the case, stating the detailed information provided “significantly contributed” to the outcome.
