Barrie officially completes improvements on Bayview Drive

It may have a taken a some time, but the city of Barrie says work along Bayview Drive is officially done.

In a social media post on Wednesday, the city says final pavement markings were down, marking the end of years long project.

Construction along Bayview began in 2024 and as result, the city had a detour in place until the end of July 2025.

Although final pavement markings went down just days ago, the city claims most construction was completed by fall of 2025.

The city says the major road has now been widened, cycle tracks have been put in place, sidewalks have been improved, stormwater work is done and Bayview Drive was resurface between Little Avenue and Springhome Road.
