Canadian country musicians road-tripping across the country for worthy cause

Pure Country 106 morning show host Jason McCoy will join Michelle Wright and Doc Walker for the Great Canadian Roadtrip tour.

A trio of iconic Canadian country musicians are teaming up and making their way across the country for a series of stripped-down performances.

The artists will be setting off on a road trip this fall, making a final stop at the Orillia Opera House.

Fresh off the heels of a Troubadour Summer Concert Series performance, Pure Country 106 Morning Show Host and frontman for The Roadhammers Jason McCoy will be one of the three artists. He’s known for being the lead singer of country heavyweights The Roadhammers, with hits like “East Bound and Down” and “I’m a Road Hammer.” He is a two-time CCMA male vocalist of the year, Canadian Country Music Hall of Famer and reigning CCMA Personality of the Year.

Joining him, will be Michelle Wright and Doc Walker.

Michelle Wright, known for hits like “Take It Like a Man” and “One Time Around,” is a five-time CCMA female vocalist of the year and has been inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. She’s sold millions of copies of her albums around the world and has 20 Top Ten radio hits.

Doc Walker is a JUNO-award winning country group and has won 14 CCMA awards. They’re known for hits like “Trying to Get Back to You” and “Get Back on My Horse.”

All three acts have long and storied careers.

The acoustic tour, called The Great Canadian Roadtrip tour, will offer concert goers a rare and intimate musical experience.

Smaller venues will set the tone for up-close and personal moments for fans.

“We’ve been lucky to spend so many years travelling across Canada and connecting with fans through our music,” say Michelle Wright, Jason McCoy, and Doc Walker in a joint statement. “This tour gives us the chance to bring things back to the songs and the stories behind them”.

The tour has partnered with World Vision Canada, which helps to improve the lives of vulnerable children around the globe.

A new single will be released just ahead of the tour, titled “The Great Canadian Roadtrip Rides Again.”

Making 24 stops, the tour will run from Oct. 20 and wrap up on Nov. 22 in Orillia at the Orillia Opera House.

Tickets go on sale on Monday at 9 a.m. through The Great Canadian Roadtrip website.
