Holiday fire burns two Muskoka homes, sends two to hospital

Two people are in the hospital after a fire destroyed a Bracebridge home on Good Friday.

Emergency crews responded to a heavy fire in Bracebridge Friday morning that resulted in two people being hospitalized and multiple homes sustaining significant damage.

According to the Bracebridge fire chief, crews responded to the incident at around 8:20 a.m. near Manitoba Street and Wellington Street North.

Although the eight responding units got the fire under control by around an hour later, two people were rushed to the hospital, one with serious injuries.

Bracebridge’s fire chief told CTV News that two homes were impacted and one was a total loss. The damage is estimated at nearly $800,000.

Although the fire is not deemed suspicious, it is being investigated by the Ontario Fire Marshal.

Manitoba Street was closed from Liddard Street to Wellington Street North as crews worked on the scene. The area has since reopened.
