Provincial police urge motorists to slow down and drive safe after an officer clocked a vehicle allegedly travelling at an excessive rate of speed in Collingwood.
The officer stopped the car on Highway 26 on Wednesday after radar tagged it speeding 167 kilometres per hour in the posted 90 km/h zone, police say.
“Stunt driving puts lives at risk,” OPP stated in a social media post about the incident. “As the long weekend approaches, it becomes imperative that highway safety is enforced.”
The driver was charged with stunt driving, which carries an automatic vehicle tow to an impound yard for seven days at the owner’s expense. It also has an immediate 30-day licence suspension and future court date for the accused.
