Elections Canada announces expense limits for parties, local ridings

The agency responsible for conducting the 2025 Canadian federal election released the expense limits for registered parties and confirmed candidates on Saturday, including those around the Simcoe Muskoka region.

According to Elections Canada, here are the expense limits for the following ridings:

  • Barrie South — Innisfil: $143,584.05
  • Barrie-Springwater — Oro-Medonte: $144,326.81
  • Bruce — Grey — Owen Sound: $141,261.72
  • Dufferin — Caledon: $144,416.13
  • Haliburton — Kawartha Lakes: $149,307.11
  • King — Vaughan: $140,044.14
  • Newmarket — Aurora: $138,309.45
  • New Tecumseth — Gwillimbury: $141,426.26
  • Parry Sound — Muskoka: $151,581.37
  • Simcoe — Grey: $140,088.33
  • Simcoe North: $142,351.42
  • York — Durham: $144,996.24

Further, here are the top five party expense limits:

  • Liberal Party of Canada: $35,857,838.58
  • Conservative Party of Canada: $35,854,580.74
  • New Democratic Party: $35,870,467.43
  • People’s Party of Canada: $26,266,698.91
  • Green Party of Canada: $24,536,569.75

Elections Canada says the final expense limits are based on whatever amount is greater between the number of names on the preliminary lists of electors and the revised lists of electors.

Advance polls opened across the country on Friday ahead of the April 28 official election day.
