Fire crews were called to the Beaver Creek Institute in Gravenhurst after reports of a fire on Friday afternoon.
Fire Chief Jared Cayley told CTV News four vehicles and a dozen firefighters responded and quickly extinguished the fire located in the medium security area of the prison.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
Officials say the fire caused minimal damage. The investigation is ongoing.
