Innisfil man charged with arson, estimated $1M in damages

York Regional Police have charged a 59-year-old Innisfil man with arson, following an industrial building fire in Whitchurch-Stouffville.

According to YRP, officers and fire services attended the scene of the incident on May 3, shortly after 3 p.m., in the Warden Avenue and Aurora Road area and observed a large amount of smoke billowing out of the premise.

Authorities estimate damages to be valued up to $1 million.

Police say the suspect was arrested on the scene. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was charged with arson, mischief and two counts of uttering threats.

Police say the incident is believed to be isolated.
