Knife-wielding man arrested in Midland

A man wielding a knife was arrested in downtown Midland.

Police were called to the area of Nelson and Robert streets on Wednesday at 6:46 p.m.

There they found a man with a knife making verbal threats to people in the area.

Police say the man was arrested and after being brought to a cell, he destroyed property inside the room.

A 35-year-old Midland man was charged with:

  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purposes
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Mischief under $ 5,000
  • Being intoxicated in public place

The man was held for bail court and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
