Local voters prepare to cast ballots and take on riding changes

The federal election campaign is officially underway, the candidates in Simcoe-Grey, the newly redesigned riding are prepared to compete on election night.

The federal election campaign is officially underway, and voters are prepared to cast their ballots. The candidates in Simcoe-Grey, the newly redesigned riding, are prepared to compete on election night.

“Well I am ready yes… it’s the right time to have it. I think we need a strong man to contradict all the things that Trump does," said one local.

“We are busy putting signs on lawns we are sending out door knocking teams,” shared Bren Munro the Liberal candidate for Simcoe-Grey.

Bren Munro is the Liberal candidate for the new look riding. Simcoe-Grey has lost to the community of New Tecumseth. New Tecumseth is now merged with Bradford West Gwillimbury. Munro believes the riding changes gives her a bit of an advantage.

Staff at the Conservative Election Campaign Office are also getting signs made.

“We have six municipalities this election with the Simcoe-Grey re-organization. It’s going to be a busy few weeks yes but we are ready to go we’ve got. All of our team we’ve got a lot of volunteers, said Jenn Armstrong Campaign coordinator for Terry Dowdall.

“What’s really important is standing up to the menace in the south and having a strong leader that can guide Canada forward during the Trump Administration,” said another local.

According to their party websites, neither the NDP or the Green Party have selected candidates for the riding.

Both campaign teams say volunteers will spend the rest of the week getting those signs out. Both liberal and conservative representatives say they are always looking for help and if anyone wants a sign on their yard... you just have to ask.
