Lurid notes left in park bring luring charges to Hillsdale, Ont. man

A man faces serious luring charges after leaving questionable notes in a Hillsdale, Ont. park.

Several Hillsdale residents called the Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Wednesday and Thursday after seeing a man leaving the notes at a Davenport Drive park and its surrounding area.

Police say they began an investigation and identified several locations with similar evidence.

The OPP’s Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and its Repeat Offender and Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Unit started a multi-day investigation that led to the identity of a local man.

This week, police charged a 23-year-old Hillsdale man with:

  • Two counts of making sexually explicit material available to a person under 16 yrs of age
  • Two counts of luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication
  • Invitation to sexual touching to a person under 16 years of age
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon

The man remains in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie today to answer to the charges.
