Man arrested for impaired driving after leaving Alliston restaurant: OPP

Provincial police charged a man with impaired driving after they say he refused to leave an Alliston restaurant - until officers were called.

A Nottawasaga OPP officer arrived at the St. Louis Bar and Grill on King Street Wednesday evening after learning a customer had been drinking and was no longer welcome.

Before the officer arrived, police say the customer had taken off out of the parking lot in a vehicle, which was located on Victoria Street East.

The officer conducted a traffic stop and provided the driver with a roadside test, which allegedly registered a ‘fail.’

Along with the charges, the 63-year-old man from Alliston was handed a 90-day licence suspension and the vehicle was hauled off to an impound yard for seven days.

“The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive,” police stated in a release. “Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please call 911 or contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.”
