Man brandishes knife at Huntsville mall

A man waving a knife around at the Huntsville Place Mall had shoppers reaching for their cell phones.

Provincial police were called at 5 p.m. Thursday to the King William Street mall after the man began acting in an aggressive manner while holding a weapon.

Police say no members of the public were injured during the incident.

After witnesses spoke with police, police were able to locate him at a local apartment building.

A 22 year-old Huntsville man was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Weapons dangerous
  • Two counts of assaulting a peace officer
  • Two counts of breach of probation

The accused was held in custody and will appear in at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge April 25.
