Man arrested in connection with homicide at Five Points

Barrie police say one man has been arrested in connection with a homicide that happened at the Five Points in downtown Barrie Friday.

Earlier today, Barrie police put out suspect photos of 29-year-old Justin Harris who they were calling a “suspect in the case.”

Shortly after 2 p.m., officers say they arrested the man in the area of Toronto Street and Dunlop Street West.

A man, 36, has died as a result of stab wounds after being rushed to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, according to police.

At 11:30 a.m. officers say they were called to a report of a man who was injured and lying on the ground in the Bayfield Street and Dunlop Street West area at the Five Points.

Investigators say Harris and the victim were seen together in the area shortly before police were contacted and they left not long after.

The roads in the area remain closed while a heavy police presence is on scene and the investigation continues.
