OPP arrest four in multiple shoplifting incidents

Southern Georgian Bay OPP reported four arrests this week related to separate shoplifting incidents in Midland that date back as far as December.

According to the detachment, the first arrest was made on December 31, two weeks after staff from the LCBO store on Jones Road observed an individual stealing liquor products and fleeing on a bike.

The 32-year-old Midland suspect was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Police say another arrest was made on Thursday in relation to a December 28 incident at the same LCBO store, where staff reportedly observed a ‘brazen’ theft of their liquor products.

The 20-year-old Midland suspect from that incident was also charged with theft and property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP also reportedly responded to consecutive shoplifting calls in the same day on January 9.

At around 1:30 p.m., police say security at the Canadian Tire on County Road 93 reported a significant theft of products from their store by a single suspect.

Shortly thereafter, police say security at the Mark’s Clothing Store on County Road 93 also reported a shoplifting incident involving two suspects.

The 35-year-old Tiny Township suspect and 29-year-old Midland suspect were identified and arrested last Saturday, charged with theft under $5,000.

All accused individuals are scheduled for future court dates.
