Car-snowmobile crash sends two to hospital

Two were reportedly taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash between a car and a snowmobile along Orillia’s waterfront on Saturday.

According to Orillia OPP, officers, Orillia firefighters and County of Simcoe Paramedics responded to the crash at the Highway 12 and Atherley Road intersection around noon.

Police say two were transported to Soldiers' Memorial Hospital with injuries that were deemed life-altering. Both the car and snowmobile reportedly sustained substantial damage.

The intersection reopened after being closed for several hours as first responders and investigators worked on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing with the help of OPP Central Region’s traffic incident management enforcement unit.
