Police seized suspected psilocybin, otherwise known as magic mushrooms, as they continue to investigate a fire that damaged a downtown Barrie business earlier this week that authorities said was intentionally set.
Emergency crews and police were called to 66 Dunlop Street West, at the corner of Mary Street, around 2 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a fire. Firefighters managed to extinguish the flames, and police say they discovered forced entry to the building after finding a broken window.

The building sustained considerable damage, including the Shroomyz store, which has previously drawn attention for its illegal sale of psilocybin products.
On Thursday, officers executed search warrants as part of the investigation and said they seized a quantity of psilocybin. Police did not disclose where the search warrants were conducted.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is leading the investigation into the cause of the fire, while police continue to gather evidence and search for suspects.
Investigators ask anyone who may have dash camera footage from Dunlop Street on Wednesday before or shortly after 2 a.m. to email Det. Const. Kyle Linkletter.
