School bus and class cancellations across central Ontario

Ice storms have forced school boards to cancel buses in central Ontario. Thu., April 3, 2025.

Due to one last wallop of winter ice, several school boards have cancelled specific zones and routes to schools Thursday.

Simcoe County School Transportation Consortium has cancelled school buses in the following regions:

NORTH

The Simcoe County District School Board and the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board have announced that Brechin PS, East Oro PS, Marchmont PS, Rama Central PS, Severn Shores PS, Uptergrove PS, Couchiching Heights PS, Harriett Todd PS, Lions Oval PS, Orchard Park PS, Orillia Learning Centre, Orillia SS, Regent Park PS, Simcoe Shores (Orillia campus), Twin Lakes SS, Foley C.S., St. Bernards C.S., Monsignor Lee C.S., Notre Dame C.S., Patrick Fogarty C.H.S. in the North weather zone are closed today. All school vehicles for these schools are cancelled today.

All other transportation in the North weather zone will run as scheduled.

CENTRAL

Simcoe County District School Board has announced that Forest Hill PS, Goodfellow PS, Guthrie PS, Holly Meadows ES, Shanty Bay PS, WR Best Memorial PS in the Central weather zone are closed today. All school vehicles for these schools are cancelled today.

All other transportation in the Central weather zone will run as scheduled.

School buses are not running in the Muskoka region today.

WEST and SOUTH school zones’ buses are running today.

Trillium Lakelands District School board has cancelled buses in the following regions:

All school vehicles to schools in Zone 4 and Zone 5 for Trillium Lakelands District School Board have been cancelled today.

There are currently power outages affecting the following schools and child care centres within schools in Zone 1, and we are not aware of restoration times.

  • Macaulay Public School
  • Monck Public School

As a result, these schools and child care centres within schools will be closed to students and staff today, Thursday, April 3

ZONE 4 & ZONE 5 school vehicles to St. John Paul Catholic Elementary School, St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School, St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School, St. Luke Catholic Elementary School and St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School are cancelled.

ZONE 4: Bobcaygeon Public School, Fenelon Falls Secondary School + Adult and Alternate Education Centre, Fenelon Township Public School, Lady Mackenzie Public School, Langton Public School, Ridgewood Public School, Woodville Elementary School, St. John Paul Catholic Elementary School, St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School (French Immersion), St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School

ZONE 5: Alexandra Public School, Central Senior School, Dr. George Hall Public School, Dunsford District Elementary School, Grandview Public School, I.E. Weldon Secondary School, Jack Callaghan Public School, King Albert Public School, Lindsay Adult and Alternate Education Centre, Leslie Frost Public School, Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute, Mariposa Elementary School, Parkview Public School, Queen Victoria Public School, Rolling Hills Public School, Scott Young Public, St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School, St. Dominic Catholic Elementary School, St. Luke Catholic Elementary School, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School

As a result, these schools and child care centres within schools will be closed to students and staff today, Thursday, April 3.

GEORGIAN COLLEGE

After consultation with community leaders and partners, Georgian will re-open the Muskoka and Orillia campuses on Thursday. All classes and services will run where possible. Students should check Blackboard for instructions specific to their courses.

As of Thursday, all Georgian locations are open.

If you feel the conditions are a risk to your personal safety, you must take responsibility and make travel decisions based on what’s best for you. If you can’t attend campus, students are to contact their instructors.

LAKEHEAD UNIVERSITY

All in-person classes at Lakehead University’s Orillia Campus have been cancelled for Thursday and Friday.

Online classes will continue as scheduled unless otherwise noted.

We recognize that many still do not have access to the internet, power, and other services, and not everyone will be able to be online.The campus remains open.
