Senior charged with impaired driving in Shelburne

A call was made to police about a possibly impaired driver on Main Street in Shelburne Friday.

Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) began searching for the described vehicle and located it around 7 p.m.

After speaking with the older Melancthon man, OPP charged the 71-year-old with operation while impaired.

He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville to answer to the charge.

As a result of the investigation, his driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle impounded.
