The heavy bands of blowing snow in Simcoe County on Saturday have led to multiple crashes on roads across the region.
Barrie
Police in Barrie responded to a pileup on Lockhart Road at the south end of the city Saturday afternoon as heavy winds blew snow bands from the open farmlands across the roadway.
A spokesperson from the Barrie Police Service (BPS) told CTV News that the incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. and involved 10 to 15 vehicles running into one another due to the conditions. He adds that he was not made aware of any serious injuries.
Lockhart Road was closed between Ball Gate and Yonge Street as officers worked on the scene.
Later Saturday afternoon, the BPS closed Sunnidale Road between Ferndale Drive and Livingstone following a reported multi-vehicle crash and due to weather conditions.
No injuries were believed to have occurred according to the BPS

Elmvale
According to Huronia West OPP, officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on County Road 92 in the Elmvale area at around 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
An OPP spokesperson told CTV news that local firefighters and paramedics were involved in the response, as there were reports of injuries. The injuries were not believed to be serious.
The scene was reportedly cleared by 10 a.m. but County Road 92 remains closed in the area due to whiteout conditions.
Tiny Twp.
According to Southern Georgian Bay OPP, officers responded to several collisions late Saturday morning and early Saturday afternoon around Tiny Township.

Concession 11 East has been closed between County Road 6 and Golf Link Road. Lafontaine Road West has been closed between Cedar Point Road and County Road 6.
A constable from Southern Georgian Bay OPP told CTV News that one driver in one of the collisions was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Alliston
In a social media post, OPP stated that County Road 10 was closed Saturday afternoon between County Road 89 and 5th Sideroad. Emergency services also responded to the scene.

OPP are strongly urging drivers in the region to avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
