Provincial police made an arrest in relation to an incident where a young woman was allegedly approached and threatened on a Collingwood trail earlier this week.
According to Collingwood OPP, officers were called to the trail between Fourth Street and Hume Street in the downtown area at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police say a young woman was approached by a man with a bike who allegedly solicited her for a sexual act.
When she refused, police say the man responded with an alleged threat to harm her. The woman was not hurt and contacted police.
On Friday, police reported that a 22-year-old male suspect from Collingwood was arrested and charged with criminal harassment, adding that he was also arrested on the strength of outstanding warrants.
The accused was held in custody for a Friday bail hearing.
“We thank the public for their cooperation and vigilance in reporting information that assisted in this investigation,” said Sgt. Wes Staddon, in a news release.
Police confirm there is no ongoing threat to public safety in relation to the incident.
