Weathering the weather in central Ontario

Here are the latest weather details, plus the long-range forecast for York Region, Simcoe County and Muskoka.

Whether to wear a raincoat or bring a snow shovel is the question of the day. The answer: do both.

The Special Weather Statement issued by Environment Canada has a hodge-podge of weather headed our way, some of it has already arrived.

Rain in the amounts of 15 to 25 millimetres are expected across central Ontario, but the weather agency is cautioning folks it could be more than that in some areas.

Next is the warning about rapidly falling temperatures, this could result in icy surfaces wherever you plan on walking late Wednesday.

And then there’s the reduced visibility thanks to the blowing snow of five to 10 centimetres in the forecast.

Last but not least, there could be a thunderstorm Wednesday afternoon.

Mild temperatures are expected for most of the day, but it looks like they will drop dramatically this afternoon and tonight and then the snow will arrive.
