2 fire trucks stolen, taken on joyride in Alberta village

Published:

Vulcan RCMP arrested one man and are seeking another after a pair of fire trucks were stolen from the village of Champion this week.

Authorities said at 11:30 p.m. on April 20, two fire trucks were stolen from the community’s fire hall.

RCMP said the vehicles were seen driving at a high rate of speed, without their emergency lights being activated.

One of the suspects was caught fleeing from the truck with the assistance of a RCMP police dog, but a second suspect evaded arrest.

Both fire trucks were recovered.

The first suspect, a 25-year-old man from Peace River, is charged with break-and-enter, possession of stolen property, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police and several breaches of court orders.

RCMP say the second suspect has been identified but is still at large.
